Paul Signorelli has more than 20 years of experience in workplace learning and performance programs and projects for health care organizations, libraries, and national nonprofit membership organizations. He is currently helping Blue Shield of California, as an instructional designer, to prepare staff members to implement the national health care reform act and, earlier this year, helped employees at Sutter VNA & Hospice make the transition from paper and laptops to smartphones for medical record-keeping purposes.

He is increasingly in demand as a presenter on webinars and face-to-face at professional conferences throughout the United States, and is cowriting a book (to be released through ALA Editions in May 2011) on learning and leadership.

As Director of Staff Training (six years) and Volunteer Services (14 years) for the San Francisco Public Library, he created, implemented, and managed training plans which included:

He continues to develop curriculum which responds to learners needs; teaches introductory software workshops (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and customer service workshops; and remains involved in projects to successfully and creatively introduce new technology into organizations to the benefit of his clients and their customers.

American Society for Training & Development

Has held a variety of positions, including Board President (2010), for the ASTD Mt. Diablo (San Francisco East Bay Area) Chapter; has served on a national membership task; has served as a presenter at the ASTD national Chapter Leaders Conference in Arlington, Virginia; and will be joining the ASTD National Advisors for Chapters group for a three-year term (January 2011-December 2013).

American Library Association

Active in the Association's Learning Round Table as a presenter at ALA national conferences, blogger, and supporter of Round Table activities, and as a featured presenter in ALA TechSource webinars.

Urban Libraries Council
Developing and managing training component of IMLS/ULC Scholar program for San Francisco Public Library; also was a presenter on an IMLS/ULC Scholar program audioconference (2006).

Infopeople (California-based training organization for libraries)
Member of Infopeople Master Trainers group since its inception in 2002 and training consultant (2007-2009).

Pacific Library Network Staff Development Committee
Member of this library training consortium which organizes daylong workshops and conferences to meet unmet training needs for staff of Libraries throughout the San Francisco Bay Area; helps plan “Future of Libraries” conferences held at San Francisco Public Library and served as co-chair of this event (2006 - 2009).

SFPL Staff Development Committee
Member of this San Francisco Public Library staff committee which helped expand and fine-tune the Library’s Staff Training program (2001-2007).

SFPL Educational Opportunities Committee
Member of this San Francisco Public Library staff committee which disbursed Friends funds to reimburse staff for training workshops not otherwise paid for through SFPL Training (2001-2007).
